Our furry little friends need to be fed, but as we all know, cats have a lot of character and can be very fussy and specific when it comes to what food they like and dislike. It is not as simple as just buying the first cat food bag you see in the store and shoveling some of it into a bowl, and that is it forever. It takes a little more effort and intuition and knowing your cat intimately, and this little guide is going to help you find the perfect cat food for your little furball.
Human Food?
Can you feed your cat like you might feed a dog, with scraps of food you eat yourself? Better not; it may not kill them or maybe fine sometimes, but it is better to be safe than sorry, and just avoid giving them your food altogether. There are entire store aisles full of cat food, so head there, and if you want to treat your little friend, just buy a few cat treats you can find in those same aisles. Now choosing the right brands of cat food is completely your prerogative, but if advertisements and recommendations are something you don’t care, pick yourself and use statistics to figure out what your cat might love. It does not stop there, of course, but is a very helpful guideline nonetheless.

Wet Cat Food
Should you feed your cat dry food or perhaps wet cat food? Well, that choice is completely up to them and their preferences, as cats are very particular about their likes and dislikes. Dry and wet cat food have very different smells, tastes, and textures, so if you are still unsure about which your little friend prefers, just give them some of both and see what they eat more of and what they avoid. Wet cat food is also quite messy, naturally, so do not put the food on carpets or other surfaces that will be a pain to maintain and clean later. Different brands also taste different so if you notice your furball companion not being a fan of one brand or another, switch it up a bit and see if something else is more to their liking.
Dry Cat Food
Dry cat food is the other option, and if your cat prefers it, keep in mind that a surprisingly small amount will be enough for them, so make sure you measure out enough so you do not overfeed them. Also, being dry, it contains less water, meaning you may notice your pet drinking a little more than when they eat wet food. Make sure you give them enough fresh water every day. Something you may not know is to avoid giving your cat milk, or at least the milk you drink, as it can make them sick or give them other health problems.
We want the best for our pets, that goes without saying, and you need to make sure that your cat is not only getting the food they need but also the food they actually like.
